TENTATIVE PRACTICE SCHEDULE FOR EACH LEAGUE

Listed on each age division.

  • EACH TEAM WILL PRACTICE ONE - TWO PER WEEK

 

  • MAIN PRACTICES WILL BE ON MONDAY, TUESDAY, AND THURSDAYS.  

 

  • PRACTICE TIMES:  WILL VARY

  • GAME DAYS FOR EACH AGE WILL BE DETERMINED AFTER REGISTRATION HAS ENDED.

GENERAL RULES

  • All coaches and dugout parents must have taken the coaches safety course and have a certificate before you can be on the field. The certificate needs to be turned in to the concession stand before the first game of the season. If you fail to do so you will NOT be able to coach or be in the dugout until you have completed the course. (THIS IS A FEDERAL LAW! ) cost is $10, the class is online at coachsafely.org.

  • Game Forfeiture: An Official forfeiture will take place if a team has less than 8 players at game time. However, the league still encourages a practice game to take place. To avoid a forfeit, you may call one your league board members at least 3 hours before game starts, and they will select a girl to fill in, if they can find one. The fill in girl/ girls must be registered within the participating league. Coach may not choose who the fill in is.

  • Not Showing Up: Head Coach needs to let one of their league board members know 48 hours in advance that their team will not be showing up to the field to play. If you DO NOT show up to play, and the team does not notify one of the league board members 48 hours in advance then there will be a $200 fine for that team.

  • Early Departure: All early departures by players before the game is officially over must be brought to the attention of the opposing coach and the official scorekeeper. No out will take place for the player leaving if due to an injury.

  • Substitution/batting: All players must bat and in batting order. Free substitutions may be made in the field only.

 

  • Equipment:

    • Gloves/Mitts: All players must have a glove. Mitts may only be used by the catcher and 1st baseman. Pitcher shall only use a solid-colored glove while pitching (does not include eyelets, lacing or patch on the back of glove).

    • Helmets: All helmets must have a face mask.

    • Bats: Are to be USSSA / USA / ASA approved.

    • Facemasks: Required for all players on field (6u, 8u, 10u, 12u, 14u)

 

  • Playing Field: All team members, including coaches, team representatives, and players will remain inside the playing field during the course of the game. (Exceptions: warming up and restroom breaks with permission of the coach)

 

  • Book Keeping: Official books will be kept by the home team.

 

  • Softball type: See USA Rule book.

 

  • Ejection: ABSOLUTELY NO FOUL LANGUAGE FROM COACHES, PLAYERS, OR PARENTS! IF SUCH LANGUAGE IS HEARD YOU WILL BE EJECTED FROM THE GAME AND ASKED TO LEAVE THE COMPLEX. If you are heard a second time you will be asked not to come back ever! The coach is responsible to encourage and deescalate parents in the stands. If a parent is ejected from the game, then the Head coach is also ejected for that game. If a coach throws a fit (showing no Sportsmanship) the coach will be asked to leave for the rest of the night. If any kind of threat towards an umpire any coaches, or a facility staff member he/she will be kick out of all complexes for a year.

Code of Conduct for Players, Parents, Spectators & Coaches

The Crawford County Girls Softball Association (CCGSA) is a community organization that sponsors youth softball activity emphasizing fun, fair play, and sportsmanship. The mission of CCGSA is to enhance every participant’s enjoyment of their softball experience. To better achieve this goal, we are outlining a Code of Conduct for all parents, coaches and players involved in CCGSA. The Code of Conduct is a written contract between the parents, players, and coaches to abide by the rules and regulations of the game as well as maintain a cooperative attitude and uphold the ideals of fair play and sportsmanship. This contract is more than just paper; it is the essence of our goals and objectives and thus, adherence to it is of primary importance. Children who wish to play, parents who want their children to play, and Coaches who wish to coach on teams for CCGSA are required to agree to and to sign this Code of Conduct.

 

PLAYERS CODE OF CONDUCT

All players Will … 

Display good sportsmanship and team play at all times. Follow the direction of the Coaching Staff. Show respect for all opponents, coaches, players, umpires, league officials and spectators. Make every attempt to be on time and ready to play for all games and practices. Inform coaching staff in a timely manner when unable to attend practice or games. 

All Players Will Not … 

Use abusive or profane language, taunt or humiliate any other player, abuse, mistreat or mishandle any CCGSA equipment or property (eg. Throwing, batting, helmets), threaten or fight any person while at any game or practice.

 

PARENTS & SPECTATORS CODE OF CONDUCT

Parents and Spectators will support the players, coaches, umpires, opponents and league or tournament officials. Parents and Spectators won’t "coach" or "officiate". 

 

All Parents and Spectators Will … 

Conduct themselves in a manner that displays the principals of good sportsmanship and team play. Show respect for all opponents, coaches, players, umpires, league officials and spectators. Inform the Coaching Staff of any disability or ailment that may affect the safety of their child. Comply with the decisions of league officials and observe all rules, policies and procedures as established or endorsed by CCGSA. Make arrangements to ensure that the players are punctual in arrival at and departure from CCGSA events. Be drug and alcohol free while at any CCGSA events. No Weapons allowed.

All Parents and Spectators Will Not … 

Ridicule, demean, threaten, or engage in a confrontation with players, coaches, other spectators or umpires. If there is an issue that needs addressed parent or/spectator is to seek out a CCGSA Board Member.

 

COACHES CODE OF CONDUCT

Coaches will remain unconditionally supportive of the CCGSA commitment to the ideals of good sportsmanship, team play, honesty, loyalty, courage and respect for authority. Likewise, coaches will remain sensitive to the physical and emotional well- being of the players. 

All Coaches Will … 

Be positive role models. Display and instill in their players the principals of good sportsmanship and team play. Conduct themselves in a manner that best serves the interests of the players, parents and CCGSA. Do their best to provide their players a positive experience. Ensure that their teams exhibit good sportsmanship at all times, win or lose. “Humble in Victory and Gracious in Defeat.” Treat all players, coaches, opponents, umpires, league officials and spectators with respect. Provide instruction in a manner that is constructive and supportive. Teach the game of softball to the best of their ability. Comply with the decisions of league and umpires and observe all rules, policies, and procedures as established or endorsed by CCGSA. Be drug and alcohol free while at any CCGSA event. 

All Coaches Will Not … 

Ridicule or demean any players, coaches, opponents, umpires, league officials or spectators. Argue with opponents, players, or spectators on any playing field or during any team function, tolerate behavior that endangers the health or well-being of a child, use any tobacco products in the dugout or on any playing field or during any team function (practice, game etc.)

 

CONCLUSION

The CCGSA Board Members reserves the right to impose penalties, including, without limitation, game suspensions, dismissal from the team, suspension or revocation of CCGSA membership for serious or repeated violation of this Code of Conduct or other conduct deemed to be harmful to CCGSA.

We agree to abide by the rules and regulations stated herein, and we are bound to all decisions and impositions of these rules. It is with the spirit of cooperation, for the betterment of softball and our family that we willingly abide by this contract.
